#10 At Your Service!
Our entire ACSC staff is here to serve you and point you to Jesus. Micah Cobb is our Campus Minister. Mary Brinkerhoff and April Click serve as the Activities Coordinator. Ben Wacaster and Marlie Wear serve as our Campus Ministry Interns. Katie Cobb is our ACSC Secretary and is more affectionately known as our “housing and roommate guru.” Check out our staff page for contact information. We all have offices located at our building.
The ACSC usually has multiple intramural teams at AU for most sports. At any time during the school year, multiple intramural teams from the ACSC are competing, in sports ranging from flag football to bowling to beach volleyball! Be sure to sign up at a Devotional Tuesday night.
Of course, even those of us not into organized sports can let loose with a pickup game of basketball in the ACSC parking lot or a trip down our giant summer slip and slide!
#8 Stay Connected!
We have an ACSC email group that goes out to nearly 300 students. If you would like to receive prayer requests, announcements, and other ministry news, please fill out a request to be added to the listserv. Also, check out what’s happening around here, our church website, follow us on Twitter, like our ACSC Facebook page, and follow us on Instagram! Of course, the best way to stay connected is to get involved–we’ll see you soon!
#7 Home Away From Home!
Our resident families from the Auburn Church of Christ open their homes and lives to our new students each year through our Adopt-A-Student program. If you would like to participate, you will be able to sign up in a few weeks of fall semester at a devotional or at New Student Retreat
The ACSC sponsors several retreats throughout the school year. Our annual New Student Retreat for all freshmen and transfer students is held in early September each year. Then, around mid-October, we have our ministry-wide Fall Retreat at Hargis Retreat in Chelsea. In January, on MLK weekend, we will join approximately 1500 other college students for Gulf Coast Getaway in Panama City Beach, FL. Finally, in the spring we will have a Guys Retreat and a Girls Retreat. All of these events serve to draw our students closer to God and His people.
#5 Brick House!
Our Auburn Church of Christ offices are in the brick house just north of the church building. Matt Dabbs, firstname.lastname@example.org, serves as our Pulpit Minister and is very supportive of our campus ministry. Matt Tignor, email@example.com, serves as our Youth Minister. Michele Griffith, firstname.lastname@example.org, serves as our Church Secretary. Please feel free to contact them at 334-887-5891 if they can help you in any way.
The ACSC and the ACOC are both very committed to missions. Several mission trips are sponsored each year during spring break and the summer. Last year students shared Jesus, served others, and loved people in Williamsburg (Virginia), New York City, Malawi, and at Lincoln Village in Huntsville. Our “Mission Alive” is a night at the beginning of each fall semester when you can learn more about next year’s mission opportunities.
#3 Real Relationships!
One of the best ways to make real friends, the kind that encourage you to become more like Jesus, are through our community groups. Our community groups meet at various times throughout the week,. And while you’re at it, you’ll make plenty of lifelong friends.
#2 They Smell Like Sheep!
That’s what the four men who serve as the Shepherds of the ACOC probably think about the college students some days. We are blessed to have men who are genuinely concerned about you and your spiritual growth while you are in Auburn getting an education. Please feel free to contact them at email@example.com.
We are a family rooted together in Jesus! We must gain strength and encouragement from God and each other in order to face the temptations of everyday living as well as to share God’s love on a state campus. One of the best ways to do this is by attending Devotionals at 7:00 pm each Tuesday night at the ACSC. Come join 250+ college students for an uplifting time of praise, Bible study, and prayer. Bring your friends and classmates with you. We are family, we are one!
